UK Firework Awards , by Pyro Pete

July 2007

The annual UK Firework Awards were set up in 2003 to allow the fireworks-loving public to give recognition to their favourite fireworks, retailer, firework shop and more. Winners in each of the categories are determined by the number of votes received on-line through the Awards website. Voting is quick, easy and free, requiring simple registration of the voter’s details, their votes and then confirmation by email. Now in its fourth year, competition in each of the categories was very fierce, with the following winners emerging for 2006:

BEST FIREWORK RETAILER: The Firework Store, Wakefield. They win this award for the first time, and deservedly so. Voters praised an excellent range of fireworks, keen pricing, knowledgeable staff and that all important customer service, particularly with regards to deliveries throughout the UK. Contact: 01924 290088

In second place was Fireworks Arcade, with The Firework Emporium in third place.

BEST FIREWORK SHOP: Newsbox Fireworks, Loughton. It was only a matter of time before Newsbox scooped an award in this category - and they’ve won it! Stocking the best fireworks from the best brands with added discounted pricing sees customers visit from all over the UK. Voters remarked on the enthusiastic service from staff dedicated to fireworks with great deals on offer too. Contact: 020 8508 1994

In second place was The Firework Store, with The Firework Emporium in third place.

BEST COMMERCIAL FIREWORKS WEBSITE: The Firework Emporium. Well done to The Firework Emporium for winning this award for the third year running. Their website was voted best with their on-line video, simple design and humorous non-politically correct descriptions yet again receiving positive comments. Contact: 01473 729600 In second place was Fireworks Arcade, with The Firework Store in third place.

BEST OVERALL FIREWORK BRAND: Kimbolton Fireworks. Kimbolton successfully defend their prestigious Best Brand award. Good build quality, reliability and top class effects are reasons you said you thought they were the best. They have now won this award for an incredible four years running despite increasing competition. Contact: 01480 860988

In second place was Royal Party, with Fantazia Fireworks in third place.

BEST OVERALL FIREWORK: Aqua Buster by Fantazia Fireworks. This incredible value fan cake storms in to win the coveted Best Firework Award. Brilliant effects at a great price swayed voters. Contact: 0845 0940341 In second place was Panda’s Earth Shaker, with Royal Party’s 49’ers in third place.

BEST GARDEN (CATEGORY 2) FIREWORK: Jumping Jelly Beans by Kimbolton Fireworks. Kimbolton successfully defend their Best Cat 2 Award, with Jumping Jelly Beans fountain taking the glory. This year saw a staggering hat-trick for them! This company packs more into the garden classification than anyone else. Glittering Gemstones and Aurora Borealis, also by Kimbolton, came second and third.

BEST CAT 4 BRAND: Kimbolton Fireworks. Kimbolton complement their Best Brand award this year with Best Cat 4 brand too! Well done to the professional side of Kimbolton for putting together a quality range and good service that impressed their trade customers. In second place was Vulcan (China), with Sunsong in third place.

BEST FIREWORKS EVENT: British Firework Championships, Plymouth. An extended programme this year (the ‘Champion of Champions’) helped the UK’s major firework competition scoop Best Event. Quality shows; a good location but best of all it’s free. Well done to the organisers and competitors.

In second place was the St. George’s Day Amateur Championships, with Reign’s Pre-GFN event in third place (both of those were large fireworks events organised by UK Firework Review members).

All that remains to be said is a very big thanks to everyone who voted, and well done to the winners. For more information about the Awards, to view previous winners, or to take part and vote when the 2007 event starts, please see:
