Fireworks magazine was the brainchild of John Bennett. When it was first published in 1982, his aim was to preserve elements of Britain’s fireworks heritage at a time marked by company closures, growing commercial and regulatory pressures, and the increasing dominance of Chinese imports.

What began as little more than a modest newsletter gradually evolved into a respected, professionally produced publication. Over the years, it became a trusted chronicle of firework history and nostalgia, alongside industry news, personal reflections, and detailed display reports—among much else. Contributions from many well-known and influential figures helped establish Fireworks as the leading publication in its field.

John Bennett sadly passed away in September 2025, but his legacy endures. Editorship of the magazine has since been taken up by Chris Pearce, a well-known figure in the UK fireworks industry with extensive experience. A passionate firework historian and author, Chris is also an accomplished display practitioner, bringing expertise, knowledge and enthusiasm to the role.
